Scientific Work

Mission

The New Technologies & Distance Learning Laboratory has been active since 2003, serving main educational and research needs, primarily in the subjects of information technology, applied mathematics and scientific research.

The actions of the Laboratory focus on three strategic axes:

1) Development

of teaching material using ICT, teaching methods using distance learning, collaborative ways of applying new technologies in nursery schooling (ή preprimary schooling ή  pre-school) and programs of familiarisation of teachers with the Internet applications according to the current proposals of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs.

2) Support

of undergraduate and postgraduate students but also in-service teachers (in the public and private sector) on developments in new technologies, online education and entrepreneurship at national and international level.

3) Promotion

of cooperation networks with other domestic or foreign research institutions with the main goal of exchanging scientific knowledge, promoting research collaborations, attracting foreign students, supporting innovative ideas and at the same time organizing joint seminars. In this context, conferences, symposia, workshops, summer schools have been successfully organized, in which distinguished people of this field both from Greece and abroad have participated.

The presence of the Laboratory is important at local level, promoting the interaction between University and society, through programs, innovative actions such as the "Children's University" and informing citizens about everyday issues such as "road safety education" and the General Data Protection Regulation.

Lastly, the Laboratory has a historical archive of distance learning educational systems which is available to students.
